2016 Graduation Speakers

Julie Ferrell is from Tulsa, Oklahoma with a BFA in Dance at KU. She has trained with several artists and companies including Debi Myers, Pat Graney, David Justin, Autumn Eckman, Thodos Dance Chicago, Talia Beck, Lane Gifford, The Cambrians in Chicago, Elements Contemporary Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Tulsa Modern Movement, and Tulsa Ballet. Julie is also a producer and choreographer, with a collaboration with Colin Neukirch on ReDiscovered (May 2016),  her own production Idiosyncratic (February 2015), and worked as associate director on Kayla Wegley’s Alterity (March 2016). Her work merde. was selected by KU faculty to be presented at the American College Dance Association conference in Anderson, IN Julie was a member of the University Dance Company, Alpha Gamma Delta, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and served on the School of the Arts Student Advisory Board and Homecoming Steering Committee. Julie plans to move to Chicago to work as a dancer and choreographer for small companies and independent artists, and eventually return to school for her Doctorate of Physical Therapy, specializing in dancers and athletes.
