Prospective freshman student: You may be eligible for $1000 non-renewable academic scholarship if you apply by November 1st! The first step for KU scholarships is to complete the combined application for Admission and Scholarships. Early notification deadline for freshman scholarship consideration - fall freshmen applicants only. Requirements: If you will be a freshman and you have at least a 3.25 unweighted GPA with a 26 on the ACT or 1170 on the SAT (math and critical reading only) and you submit a complete application by November 1, you will automatically receive at least a $1000 non-renewable scholarship. This amount could be increased after your application is sent to the scholarship committee.

The 4-year tuition compact

For first-time freshmen only. The 4 year tuition compact provides an established fixed tuition rate for four calendar years. No increase in the rate for four years. It also sets the campus and course fee levels for those four years so the costs are known in advance. The fixed rate is in effect for four calendar years (includes summer sessions) from the time the student enrolls in KU. When it expires, students must pay the going standard rate. Four years is the time it takes for a student, taking 16 hours of courses a semester, to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.*(Industrial Design, Music Therapy and Visual Art Education are all 5 year programs) The compact is not a tuition discount or savings plan. It does however give students and families the ability to calculate the cost of tuition and fees for an entire college degree. Over the past 30 years, tuition has increased an average of 9 percent a year. The fall 2007 fixed rate assumes a 6 percent increase each year. The rates for any given year are established by the Kansas Board of Regents typically around in the last week of June.
