John Hachmeister received his B.F.A. in painting in 1972 from the University
of Kansas and his M.A. and M.F.A. in 1974 and 1985 from Kansas State University.
He has been a professional artist for 26 years. His work has been shown in
over 100 venues nationwide, including the Dolphin Gallery in Kansas City, Mo.;
the Holter Museum of Art in Helena, Mont.; Galeria Mesa in Mesa, Ariz.; and
the Salina Art Center in Salina, Kan. He has presented numerous lectures on
his own work and on grassroots environmental art sites.
John co-authored a book, “Backyard Visionaries, Grassroots Art in the Mid-West,” and has worked for over a decade to preserve "The Garden of Eden" in Lucas, Kan., an art site considered one of the top ten most important in the world. He has served on panels at both the College Art Association and the International Iron Art Casting Conferences. He has conducted workshops in metal casting and patination, and has designed and operated both commercial and academic foundries.
