Procedures for KU Dance Scholarship Applicants
1. Apply for admission to the University of Kansas by February 4. You must declare a major in dance on your KU application (degree code 0461) for admission to the dance program.
2. You must be admitted to the University in order to be considered for any financial aid. To be considered for an academic scholarship you must apply to KU before January 15.
3. Complete and submit the dance scholarship application by February 12, 2008. Application forms and general information may be obtained from the Dance Office, (785) 864-4264, or by downloading it here.
4. Ask two people who are acquainted with you and your dance activities to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf at least one of whom has taught you dance. The two people whom you have listed as references should send their letters directly to:

5. Attend the dance scholarship audition at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, in Studio 242 Robinson Center at the University of Kansas.
Other Information:
The audition will consist of a combined ballet, modern and jazz dance class. After the class, you will be asked to perform a 1 to 3 minute solo in the style of your choice (ballet, modern, jazz, ethnic, etc.). If your dance is accompanied by music, bring a cassette tape or CD of your music, cued to your dance.

Each semester that you receive a dance scholarship, you will be expected to fulfill the following requirements:
Enroll as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 hours.
Enroll in dance courses required for the B.F.A. or B.A. degree in Dance as the dance scholarship advisor outlines them each semester. If English is not your native language, all English requirements of the Applied English Center must be fulfilled before a scholarship can be awarded.
Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in academic studies. If your overall GPA falls below 2.5, you will be ineligible to retain your scholarship.
Maintain a 3.0 GPA in dance studies each semester. If your semester dance GPA falls below 3.0, you will be ineligible for your award the following semester.
Participate in the University Dance Company each semester and be available to perform in two dances each semester. Audition for all guest artist works.
